Insider: Qualcomm initiates acquisition talks with Intel

Insiders report that Qualcomm has recently proposed an acquisition plan for Intel, potentially marking one of the largest and most impactful transactions in the tech industry in recent years. Media outlets have confirmed that Qualcomm has indeed engaged with Intel regarding this acquisition, although the specifics of any formal negotiations or terms remain unclear.

Should the deal go through, it could become the biggest merger in the history of the semiconductor sector. Intel currently holds a market capitalization of around $90 billion, facing one of the most significant crises in its 50-year history.

Sources caution that the deal is still far from certain. Even if Intel is open to the acquisition, such a large-scale transaction would likely undergo stringent antitrust scrutiny. However, it may also be viewed as an opportunity to enhance the competitiveness of the U.S. semiconductor industry. To facilitate the acquisition, Qualcomm might consider selling off some of Intel’s assets to other buyers.
